No Turning Back

You ever start on a hike and get a little off course?  Decide to slow down or stop for your picnic instead of hiking full force?

That’s how I feel about my fitness journey.  I’ve been full-speed ahead, with noticeable progress. Then I’ve paused, slowed down, even backtracked a bit.

I still don’t regret the journey. There is certainly no turning back.  I was one of those people who mistakenly thought using weights for a workout would bulk me up too much. Instead, they’ve helped.  Then, I noticed less progress when life didn’t let me keep up the pace of all the workouts at National Fitness Center.  Now my schedule is so full that I crave that special time when an instructor keeps me busy for 60 minutes with those weights or I can cycle virtually anywhere in the world via the big screen at NFC Signature.

I am still working toward a more proportioned body mass index.

I could use the direction of a personal trainer who knows about all the right moves I should make, plus the nutrition I should watch more closely.  You can ask about those at any NFC front desk.  Some folks use them to help get through the winter season without backsliding.

When I’m not making perfect progress, I keep trying anyway.  I keep moving.  Working up a sweat just makes me feel better.

Motivating myself and then feeling so much better makes me wonder, “What if we could do more to head off low self esteem in young girls by promoting healthy, active lifestyles? “

I plan on making more time this winter for my kids to do active things with me either at the gym or at home.  I want them to feel the motivation to be athletic throughout their lives in whatever way they most enjoy.  Here’s to an active fall season with progress when we can make it and self-love even when we can’t.  Let’s keep moving.
