Cycling for Non-cyclists

I haven’t owned a proper bike in years. Yet I’ve cycled for miles and miles, climbing mountains, exploring European villages, and even biking along the ocean!  It’s because of the big screen experience at National Fitness Center’s West Signature Club.  For an hour, I forget everything that causes stress in my life, and I just ride.

The RealRyder experience at NFC means I am riding on a bike with realistic side to side leaning movement.  I can adjust for challenging hills and coasting along flat roads.  At the same time, the instructor is guiding me through intervals that adjust my heart rate and help me burn calories.

I remember the first time I tried this class, barely able to endure the standing portions on my bike.  Now, I can tell a noticeable difference in the strength of my core when I’m cycling.

I’m not sure if I’ll own a real outdoor bike again.  Whether I do or don’t, I see this class as one of the foundations for getting myself in the best shape of my life.

On top of the physical benefits, this indoor cycling class, with its added bonus of the virtual reality screen, gives me a rush of natural endorphins unlike anything else I’ve found!

Like all the other NFC classes, there are ways to get started slowly, to modify, and to work up to a full hour of endurance.  Consult with your doctor about any fitness program.
