How do you weatherproof your fitness routine? Spring will soon be calling us outdoors. Yet, some of the coldest days of the year seem to be those late winter and early spring days, don’t they? Run in the rain much? I realize some dedicated souls will tough it out with a rain jacket.
Many of us use snow, cold, rain, you name it, as an excuse to not get moving at all.
Which brings me to one of my favorite places at National Fitness Center: the indoor track. As much as I love being outdoors, this track has been an inviting place to get in some miles over the past few years. That, along with the cozy, or even colossal (have you caught a movie yet at the Signature Club?) Cardio Theater.
Where else will I be covering miles and miles even if I can’t get outdoors? Everywhere from the mountains to the desert via a real ride in a virtual location? Inside the cycling theater with RealRyder bikes.
Plus, as much as I can’t wait for the outdoor pools to open, I can’t wait for warm weather before jumping in. So, thank goodness for the variety of indoor pools.
Finally, my hope of feeling stronger and more confident in the outdoors this year rides in great part on how I take advantage of all the indoors weight options and group fitness classes over the next few weeks.
Eventually, we’ll hit the heat of summer, and once again, I will appreciate those days when I can sweat in the cool of the indoor facility.
