This is a sponsored post in cooperation with National Fitness Center, where I appreciate being part of the #teamNFC program.
Do you Zumba? Some people get sooo serious about this and learn every step by memory. The rest of us just think it looks like a fun way to burn 400 to 500 calories in an hour. I’m always a bit envious of the front row Zumba enthusiasts who show up for every class and have those super-sporty tanks or sports bras that I haven’t dared to wear yet.
You may know that Zumba is really just a souped up version of what people used to call aerobics. But it includes musical influences from Latin salsa and merengue. So, you spend an hour or so entirely distracted by the fun music, challenged by the steps, and feeling sexy along with everyone else in the room.
Just in case you were wondering when you saw the promotional photo below, many of us will be showing up for the next Zumbathon with more than a sports bra and less-than-perfect body types. Most of us won’t know all the Zumba moves, either, as we haven’t faithfully attended the same class lately to learn the latest choreography. Luckily, this open invitation event is for everyone from Zumba stars to beginners like me. And it’s certainly a place where we can all feel comfortable in our own skin.
I have to tell you the first Zumbathon in the gym at NFC Signature Club was so much fun – it was more of a party and didn’t feel like a class at all, that I’m even more excited about the event in its second year! It’s a charity event with every bit of the $10 door fee going to help Young-Williams Animal Center. Organizers are even accepting dog and cat food donations at the door for Young-Williams.
The best part is this party is open to everybody, whether you’re an NFC member or just visiting for the first time. It’s really a great way to get a sneak-peek of the incredible Signature facility at 8511 Walbrook Drive. Hope to see you Friday, July 29th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
