Leisurely Saturdays in the Garden…that was the premise of this weekend series I wanted to bring to you here on the Flour Sack Mama blog. Lately, where has the time gone? I’m behind on garden maintenance. It seems like I’ve blinked and it’s almost time to harvest tomatoes and more.
Like I’ve stressed to you over and over, build the soil, cover the basics, and food will grow in your garden. You don’t need petrochemicals, no toxic pesticides. You do need to spend a little time and attention. Yet, even if you make mistakes like I do, you can grow some of your own organic food and feel empowered to do so.
Even the youngest gardening friends can appreciate vine-ripened bites ready for picking. My kids still get excited about what’s new out there…lately curious about the Brussels sprouts.
Despite my off and on garden neglect it seems the garden is still producing what some creatures need. The sage bloomed and welcomed a butterfly, which entertained my children for half a day.
I feel like I have to steal time away from other priorities for gardening these days, yet it is precious time that the garden needs, and that I need.
May you find relaxation and satisfaction in your gardening this summer.
