Do you find yourself going against the grain of what all the other bloggers or friends in your local community are doing? Do you insist on reading food labels in the hunt for hidden GMOs? Do you embrace natural parenting and integrative health? Do you turn down more sponsorship opportunities than you take because they don’t mesh with your blog’s value system?
The ShiftCon eco blogging conference may be just the event you’ve been looking for to make the connections you need. This second annual event is promising to be a little bigger and even better than ever, full of workshops, education and close-knit networking opportunities. The brands and nonprofits gathering at ShiftCon are committing to a higher standard of quality and transparency than our culture has experienced in these recent decades of increasing chronic illness, pollution and corruption. These brands more likely to align with social good are leading the way toward a healthier economy and looking to earnest bloggers to help share their messages.
The second annual ShiftCon is even closer to the Pacific shore this year, at beautiful Manhattan Beach Marriott in Los Angeles! Busy participants will be just steps away from beachfront relaxation and outdoor fitness opportunities. Event founder and organizer Leah Segedie and her savvy team have been thinking of every detail to improve upon their first year and make this the ultimate conference experience! They even arrange for conference food to be organic and non-GMO.
I appreciated the chance to attend the first year of ShiftCon sponsored by the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families coalition that is one of many watchdog groups still connecting at the conference. This year, I’m honored to be asked to serve as one of the ShiftCon gathering’s diverse tribal leaders, concentrating on the Green 101 tribe that covers ways anyone can go green in the way that best suits their lifestyle.
This is a good fit for the #CleanCouponing efforts I’ve been been working on for some time, looking at ways we can all be frugal with more than money. As you know, I approach healthier lifestyles, organic food and green choices as something for everyone, not anything elitist or a one-size-fits-all program. My background as the daughter of full-time family farmers makes it especially touching to have a seat at the table where so many earnest people are working to improve our food system.
Another advantage of this conference over some is its scale…in the hundreds and not so oversized and commercialized that you get lost in the crowd. Last year’s ShiftCon was full of many awe-inspiring moments when those of us who’d been blogging at arm’s length about prominent lifestyle leaders were able to meet and chat with those leaders one on one. I remembering gushing something in embarrassment at organic industry leader Gary Hirshberg, trying to thank him for his important work and truly stunned to meet him in person. These encounters happened over and over, a common experience for many of us in attendance.
While there are still spots available, you can get your ticket here to be a part of the most progressive, thoughtful, informative conference of its kind. Particularly if you’ve been busy blogging about issues of concern, advocating for change and perhaps even feeling alone in you struggle to get people to listen — you need to connect with like-minded people in social media who understand. If you have questions or concerns, I hope you’ll let me know. I hope to see you this year at ShiftCon!
*While tribal leaders receive a complimentary ticket and a thank you bag from conference sponsors, this is an uncompensated position involving volunteering for the blogging community. My opinions and affiliations all remain my own and my views do not necessarily reflect ShiftCon management.
