Follow along to #WitnessMyFitness in a promotional #teamNFC program at National Fitness Center!
You know that trite but true saying that your toughest competitor is yourself? I have to keep reminding myself of that. I’m really enjoying trying every possible fitness class at National Fitness Center, even getting more comfortable with a little weightlifting (light weightlifting, mind you), and have an online nutrition tool available to help me track calories and nutrients, thanks to all the resources at NFC. The support from the staff and all of my #teamNFC friends is incredible! I surprised myself recently when I realized I could actually do a few pushups – real pushups – shockingly discovering that I must be getting stronger!
I still feel like I’m going in stops in and starts. For instance, last week I was incredibly proud that I made it the gym for six straight days. Then came ice and snow to keep me home and feeling under the weather for a couple of days on top of that. Plus, I’ve had a backlog of articles to write. So, I’m back again making excuses and needing to pull myself back into a more regular routine.
The impressive thing about the #teamNFC members you might meet here or elsewhere on social media is that each is accomplishing things in his or her own way. Some are competitive athletes, others are impressive writers, still others do something completely different and still make time for fitness. I introduced the first 10 #teamNFC members to you the other day.
Here are our four newest #teamNFC members who will be sharing the fitness message with their communities:
Kasey Kurtz was my first ever PHIIT class (team training) instructor at NFC, both tough and compassionate at the same time. She also works in the medical field, wrangles two little boys and a volunteers for community projects in support of her military husband. I didn’t have the guts to tell Kasey I was feeling ill this week, when she gave clear instructions on how to get in a complete makeup workout in my living room when I was snowed in. I figured if I told her, she’d make me work out anyway. She’s an excellent personal trainer.
Christi Wampler is a sassy, talented writer who has already accomplished a great deal before joining the #teamNFC program. She writes at her blog, Domestic Disturbia, about her disciplined weight loss efforts that have already been wildly successful. Along with counting calories, she credits her steady, frequent workouts at National Fitness Center. Christi is incredible and is brutally honest about the hard work it takes to transform your body!
Brent Smith has gone the distance in college track, now helping coach the next generation in track and field as well as fitness for life. He serves on staff at Knoxville Youth Athletics. It’s exciting to see Brent be able to take time for himself in the world class NFC facilities where he can cross-train. All our #teamNFC members look forward to helping spread the word about the important community fitness programs of KYA.
Team sports also give youngsters a chance to learn valuable skills while staying in shape! That’s where Whitfield Sports provides support for basketball and baseball throughout the Knoxville community. Director Chris Whitfield coordinates tournaments for these team sports. We want to welcome Chris to #teamNFC so he, too, can have a change of pace.
I hope you’ll join me in welcoming and encouraging all of our #teamNFC members along their journeys! If you decide to check out one of the eight state-of-the-art NFC facilities in East Tennessee, please tell them Anne sent you.
It’s great when you have a support system of fellow athletes! I’ll be on the lookout for your and their progress!

I’m so impressed that you are doing this. I’ve never been a gym person but this is truly inspiring. Will they travel to California? 😉
