Looking to save money on this year’s Halloween costumes? Someone need a cape? Maybe you have an old jacket in your closet that would work for free!
When one of my kids expressed an interest in a witch’s cape, I found this thrift store jacket for $5.
I cut off the sleeves, then sewed a line from the shoulder to the side that follows the ribbon used for illustrative purposes in the photo, changing the line of the jacket into a less structured cape.
The result is an easy cape that took about 15 minutes to make. While it is not as full as some capes, it filled the need for a quick costume fix!
