Our Organically Grown Strawberries

Fresh, local, organic!  Don’t you love getting food just the way you want it from your own garden? Strawberries fresh for the picking have been worth the wait at our house this year.

We’ve been picking and eating pint after pint of the fresh fruit.

We have an established garden of perennial strawberry plants now, so it should be fun to tend them now from year to year.
We shared our share of struggles with you, from getting the ground conditions dry enough to fending off pests with a variety of natural methods.

While I can’t tell you it will always be easy to grow your own strawberries, I can tell you it’s worth the effort!

Shane, you absolutely could grow these. The key is building good soil (raised bed) to give the plants what they need and then finding the right balance for naturally keeping pests away. I even interviewed some organic farmers in Florida who grow all sorts of foods in water and nutrients, without even bothering with the soil.

Can you say jealous?? I just do not have a green thumb and am forced to buy organic form the grocer which costs a small fortune but it is worth it. They just taste better. I cannot imagine how wonderful they taste fresh from your garden.
