One of the best gifts moms can give babies is the perfect nutrition and bonding provided through breastfeeding. I was blessed to be able to breastfeed my own children for what some would call an extended period of time — up to three years with my youngest. It was especially in those early days and weeks with my first baby that the propping and positioning were so important.
It’s no wonder that nursing pillows have become so popular. At baby showers they’ve become the perfect sort of thoughtful gift that supports good habits like breastfeeding. A lot of new parents are excited about the unique shape and comfort provided by the new Mombo nursing pillow. With its Firm2Soft design, the firmer side is designed for mom to use while nursing baby, then the softer side invites alert lounging or tummy time. Mombo is the only nursing pillow with a built-in vibration feature to soothe baby.
Of course, Mombo offers several adorable styles of slipcovers in solids, prints and even some popular characters like Mickey Mouse and the Taggies Monkey! I always liked having an extra, clean slipcover so I could change it easily.
I reached out to customer service for Mombo for reassurance that this popular nursing pillow is not made with toxic flame retardant chemicals. Here’s the answer I received from the Customer Service Representative, “Kids II products are non-flammable. The materials go through a process during manufacturing that upon production, the material is non-flammable. There are no flame retardant chemicals physically sprayed onto our fabrics. Our products meet the California code for flammability as well as flame retardant standards for the United Kingdom.” I would still like to know more specifically what this process is that makes the pillow non-flammable and that it does not involve any toxic chemicals. I am hopeful that such a popular product is being made with the utmost care for mom and baby.
