Work by Hand: Green Tea Lights

Planning on decorating your breakfast nook with a sense of character?  How about a tea set that illuminates?

Alice Chandler Velker and her husband, Glen Velker, are handcrafting chandeliers from tea cups and saucers.  They scour antique stores and estate sales for serving sets, occasionally buying new for pieces like the harder-to-find teapots.

The Velkers incorporate vintage textiles into lampshades and offer a table lamp version of the tea-inspired light.  After raising five daughters, Alice decided to turn her artistic talents to designing the lights. Glen does the assembly and wiring.  They’re on display at a booth in Red Door Antiques.

Yes they are, Kelly! If you click on the link in the above story for and email or call via the shop’s website, they can make arrangements with you for shipping. I posted this as a feature story and am not involved in their sales.

These are amazing! I’m too far away to visit the shop. Is there anyway to order one online?
